TRUST US TO SIMPLIFY THE REPATRIATION PROCESS
Repatriation is the process of returning someone who has passed away overseas. Whether expected or not, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the process of bringing them back to the UK for burial or cremation. J & J Lindsay has decades of experience in helping families get their loved ones home.
We aim to make things simpler, by handling all the paperwork and logistics. Repatriation works differently depending on where in the world your loved one passed away, which is why we have built up a network of contacts and partners to help make the process simpler. Whilst the time it takes varies from country to country, we always aim to help get your loved one back in the UK as soon as possible.
As well as repatriation, we can also take care of other parts of their burial or cremation, including preparing traditional or simple funerals.
DO YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE UK?
In addition to supporting families in Girvan, we also help families of individuals who have passed away in the UK, and wish to return them to their home country. We complete all aspects including notifying a coroner, to ensure your loved one can be transported home.
What is involved?
This process varies slightly from country to country. It depends on local laws and customs, and the circumstances of your loved one’s passing, but most repatriations include:
-
Liaising with the funeral directors looking after your loved one overseas
-
Liaising with embassies, consulates and other government bodies where required
-
Embalming
-
Associated paperwork and certification
-
Acquiring English translations of death certificates
-
Overseas transport
-
Local transport to our chapel of rest
